COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAM « optometryonhydepark.com

Your eyes are for life.

meetteamimageA routine, comprehensive eye exam is essential in protecting your eyesight. Regardless of your age or physical health, it’s important to have regular eye exams.

Many eye problems can develop and progress without warning and with no symptoms.  Clear, comfortable vision is also important to our everyday lives and routine evaluations of the visual system are necessary to maintain this.

During a complete eye exam, Dr. Peterson will not only determine your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses, but will also check your eyes for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together as a team and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health.

A comprehensive eye exam includes a number of tests and procedures to examine and evaluate the health of your eyes and the quality of your vision. These tests range from simple ones, like having you read an eye chart, to complex tests, such as using a high-powered lens to examine the health of the tissues inside of your eyes.

Dr. Peterson takes pride in providing thorough, individualized eye examinations and enjoys spending the time listening and getting to know her patients.  Her  holistic approach to eye care ensures that you get the best possible care, advice, and options for your eye health and vision needs.

She makes education and awareness a top priority, and takes the time to fully explain your exam results and encourage any questions you might have.  Whether discussing dietary supplements that you need to consider taking in order to keep your eyes healthy or discussing the best lens options, she strives to make sure she communicates to all her patients in a way that they understand and can benefit from her knowledge.

Our assessments include an extensive eye health exam to assess your risk or detect the onset and progression of sight-threatening conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts.

The comprehensive exam also includes checking vision and establishing a new prescription for glasses if needed along with  assessments for eye focusing, eye teaming and eye movement skills.

We recommend that you have your eyes examined once every one to two years. Contact lens wearers require annual visits, as do those with certain risk factors determined during regular visits.

If you have a health condition such as diabetes, high blood pressure or take certain medications, you may need to be checked every year or more frequently as determined by your doctor and/or optometrist.

We work closely with your Family Doctor to ensure that appropriate information is communicated. This ensures that you receive the most complete care possible that integrates properly with your overall health care plan.

We also have developed referral relationships with excellent retinal, cataract, and corneal ophthalmologists should specialist care be required.

We look forward to seeing you!
